Innovation ensures the freshest products ever

Breda – Consumers are becoming increasingly demanding. These choosy customers want yummy fruit and tasty vegetables. What's more, the fruit and vegetables must be attractive in colour and shape and, of course, deliciously fresh. With the development of 3D-printed fruit and vegetables, Aartsen is on the cusp of a revolutionary step in the journey towards absolute freshness.

Always and everywhere

Aartsen is a forward-looking organisation. In fact: the company is a trendsetter when it comes to product variety, operations and ICT. In order to further optimise the freshness and flavour of its products, Aartsen is working to develop 3D-printed fruit. That way, fresh vegetables and fruit will always be on hand in shops, catering establishments and at the market. Aartsen is proud of this new development. The company refuses to rest on its laurels, as it knows there is always room for improvement. This development is perfectly aligned to Aartsen’s nonstopfresh objective.

Virtually ideal composition

The developers are initially focusing on apples. The latest tests show that the perfect final product has almost been achieved. A virtually ideal composition has been developed in terms of nutrients, oxygen and moisture. At the moment, efforts to truly perfect the moisture content of this innovation are still underway. In the very near future, when the 3D-printed apples are available for consumers to purchase, they will be 100% fresh and ready to eat.

Reduced costs as well

Down the road, retailers will be able to have Aartsen install a unique 3D printer via a lease construction. The distinctive cartridges will be available exclusively from Aartsen. Further details are still a work in progress. This is a sustainable innovation that will lead to reduced costs, as it will drastically reduce expenses associated with transport and storage. Following intensive preparations, a pilot will begin in the near future. Interested greengrocers and market-stall holders can contact Aartsen to sign up.
